The value of any product depends on the content of vitamins and useful elements in it. In Forto carrots, the amount of fructose is 9% per 1 kg of vegetables.

The amount of beta-carotene ranges from 6.5-19 mg per 100 g of product. It all depends on the quality of fertilizing and pre-planting soil treatment.

To increase the level of beta-carotene, the vegetable is fed:

  • saltpeter;
  • superphosphates;
  • potassium chloride.

Sowing time

Forto is a mid-late variety.

In warm regions, it is allowed to sow a vegetable from late March to mid-April. In colder areas - not earlier than mid-May. The seed will withstand small frosts.

Germination

Forto carrots are classified as Nantes... This variety has good germination rates. 75-80% of the seed emerges.

The germination time depends on climatic conditions, soil composition and top dressing. At temperatures above 3 degrees Celsius, the seeds will sprout in two weeks. If it is cooler outside, the first shoots will appear only after 4 weeks.

Average weight of one fetus

Root crops grow up to 160 g... The minimum weight of carrots is 85g.

Productivity from 1 hectare

One square meter can be harvested 4.5-5 kg of carrots. With proper care, from 40 to 60 tons of crops are harvested from 1 hectare.

Purpose and keeping quality

.

Suitable regions

Carrots are suitable for growing in all regions of Russia - from the south to the Urals and Siberia. The difference lies only in the timing of planting and ripening, as well as in the size of the grown root crops.

Disease and pest resistance

Forto carrots are characterized by disease and pest resistancethat usually attack carrots.

To ensure protection from diseases and pests, you need to follow simple rules - to correctly harvest the ripe crop and organize the correct storage conditions.

Ripening period

From sowing to the formation of full-fledged root crops and their technical maturity, 115-130 days pass.

Which soil is preferred?

Carrots prefer soil with neutral acidity... To reduce it, a little lime is added to the soil. Before planting, the substrate must be well drained.

On clay soils, a good harvest cannot be achieved.

Frost resistance and transportability

Forto is able to withstand a drop in air temperature to -4-5 degrees. Also, carrots will tolerate transportation well. But at the same time, you need to collect only healthy and whole root crops.

Manufacturability for farms and peasant households

  • unpretentious cultivation;
  • high content of fructose and beta-carotene.

The disadvantages of some gardeners include a long ripening period.

Growing

Landing

Seeds are planted in soil heated to 5-6 degrees Celsius.

The seed does not need pretreatment (soaking).

Seeds are planted to a depth of 1-2 cm.The distance between rows is 15-18 cm. Before sowing, the holes are watered abundantly.

Care

As soon as the first shoots appear, the carrots are thinned, leaving a distance of 1 cm between the seedlings. When the first 3-4 leaves appear, the carrots are thinned again - in this case, leave 5 cm between shoots.

Root crops are watered twice a week, watering should be abundant - up to 10 liters of water per square meter. It is advisable to choose settled water. After each watering, the soil is loosened and all weeds are removed. When moistening, it is important to ensure that the water is well absorbed and that a swamp does not form. Three weeks before harvesting, soil moistening is stopped.

2-3 times a season, carrots need to be fed... For this, ready-made complex fertilizers are used (instructions for use are included in each package).

Collection and storage

Harvested in late August and mid-September. It is recommended to do this in dry weather. To extract root crops, they are simply pulled by the tops. If it comes off or is too small, use a shovel.
