How to make it yourself?

It is quite possible to make a landing device on your own. It takes a little effort. The following describes the methods of manufacturing both a primitive apparatus and a more complex seeder.

Required materials and tools:

  • solid steel bar (18 mm in diameter);
  • metal bushings (1 mm thick);
  • wooden handle (a shovel handle will do);
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • soldering iron with hard solder;
  • ruler, pliers, lathe, pliers;
  • drilling machine.

Attention! Assembling the seeder on your own is a serious job, so a drawing is required.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. From the drawing, you need to cut sheet metal blanks. Sand the edges and holes if necessary.
  2. Connect the body parts along the line, braze.
  3. Insert the short sleeves into the holes in the side parts. They will be slide bearings.
  4. Leave a minimum gap between the rear wall and the shaft.
  5. Solder the sleeve for the future handle in front. Install the adjusting nut bracket on top. The same must be done below. You will need to attach a slide nut guide to it.
  6. According to the drawing, make a slider from a strip of steel. It needs to be bent. A thin strip brush should be soldered to the slider.
  7. On a lathe, make an adjusting nut with a 0.8 mm flange.
  8. A shaft must be turned from a steel bar. There should be 45 degree chamfers on both sides.
  9. Drill 6-8 notches on the shaft. Their diameter should not exceed 0.4 mm. The minimum distance between rows should be 20 mm. Stagger the notches to distribute the seeds evenly.
  10. Use a hacksaw to cut the wheel disks along the outer diameter. This should be done towards the center where the centerline of the 10 mm holes is. There should be as many cuts as there are holes. Use a pair of pliers to bend each petal outward 45 degrees.
  11. From metal 1 mm, you need to cut out the hubs for the wheel. Bend them and solder them into the holes of the discs.
  12. You can assemble the seeder: first put the housing on the shaft, then the wheels follow. Secure all parts and put on the handle. The device is ready.

A seeder for carrots is a necessary thing in gardening. It reduces planting time and labor, and helps to plant rows evenly.
