The Black Bunch Tomatoes are a first generation F1 hybrid. Breeders crossed the "domesticated" small-fruited tomato with wild-growing dark-colored cousins from Chile. Suitable for growing in greenhouse conditions and open ground with insulation in case of cold weather.

As you know, the seeds of hybrids cannot be used for growing plants for the next year. The variety is indeterminate, not a standard bush type. The height of the plant is not higher than 150 cm. The stem is thick, strong, highly curly, well leafy, has several brushes (simple) with many fruits.

Read about determinant, semi-determinant and super-determinant varieties here.

The root system is well developed in all directions without deepening. The leaves are not typical for tomatoes diamond-shaped, dark green, wrinkled structure without pubescence. The inflorescence is simple, intermediate, it is laid above the 7th leaf, then through one leaf. From one inflorescence, clusters of more than 10 fruits are obtained.

According to the degree of ripening, the Black Bunch is an early ripening variety, the vegetative period lasts about 80 days (from emergence to ripening of fruits). Well resistant to all known diseases.

Despite the small size of the fruits, there is an excellent yield due to the amount - about 6 kg per plant. Yields are also good when grown outdoors.

One of the main features of the variety is its taste. It does not look like "tomato", some consider it an advantage, to someone, on the contrary, it seems like a disadvantage. There are also different opinions about the color. The black bunch is the only cultivar with truly black fruits. The color of the plant itself is also much darker than usual.

The advantages of the variety include:

  • high productivity;
  • unpretentiousness;
  • rapid maturation;
  • disease resistance.

The characteristics of the fruits are as follows:

  • the shape of the fruit is low-ribbed, round, up to 5 cm in diameter;
  • average weight about 50 - 70 g;
  • the skin is smooth, dense, thin;
  • the pulp is of medium density, fleshy, dark red in color;
  • the color of unripe fruits is dark green, over time it begins to turn pink, then turn blue with the appearance of dark blue spots. The ripe fruit has a dark purple, "eggplant" color and softness appears;
  • few seeds, chambers 1-2;
  • the amount of dry matter is large.

Gardeners note the unusual taste of tomatoes - sweet with hints of plum fruits. It is considered a versatile variety.

They use fresh cocktail fruits - in salads, sandwiches, and after heat treatment - in hot dishes. In conservation, no cracking of the fruit was noted. Not suitable for juice in large-scale production standards. Tomato paste or sauces will be delicious with an extraordinary aftertaste.

It is stored for a long time due to its density, it tolerates transportation well.

Growing features

Grown throughout the territory of the Russian Federation and in neighboring countries. Seeds are disinfected in a solution of potassium permanganate before planting on seedlings, sown in March to a depth of about 2 cm in rows, with a distance of 2 cm between them. The temperature during germination should be at least 25 degrees. It is good to use mini greenhouses as a planting site. And to enhance germination, use growth stimulants.

A pick is carried out when 3 well-developed sheets appear. The pick is carried out in a container of about 300 ml. Feeding of seedlings with mineral fertilizers is possible. 2 weeks before planting, the seedlings must be tempered - open the vents for several hours.

At the age of about 50 days, when the frosts have passed, the seedlings are planted in a permanent place. It is necessary to form a bush into one stem, pinching - every 10 days. Top dressing according to the schedule. Tying to individual supports will most likely be required.

To control weeds and maintain the microclimate, use mulching the row spacings. Remember the importance of proper watering.

With regard to fertilizers, you can use for this purpose a lot of tools available "at hand". Read more about how to feed tomatoes:

  1. Organic.
  2. Iodine.
  3. Yeast.
  4. Hydrogen peroxide.
  5. With ammonia.
  6. Boric acid.

Diseases and pests

In general, the variety is resistant to the main diseases of tomatoes in greenhouses. But preventive actions against diseases and pests are needed - spraying with microbiological substances.

  • Alternaria.
  • Late blight and protection against it.
  • Verticillosis.
  • Fusarium.
