Growing features
Tomatoes are sown for seedlings in the first half of March. Before planting, it is recommended to soak the seed in a growth stimulator. Disinfection is not required, all the necessary manipulations of the seeds go through before sale. Germination is good, not less than 85%.
The soil should be light, consisting of garden soil and humus in equal proportions... You can add a little sand and ash to the mixture. It is possible to grow seedlings in containers or plant seeds in peat pots. The last method does not require a pick.
The plantings are covered with foil and placed in a warm place. After germination, the containers are moved to bright light. From time to time, the containers are rotated so that the plants develop evenly. Watering is best done from a spray bottle or a fine-mesh watering can; warm, settled water is used.
After unfolding 1-2 real leaves, picking is carried out and feeding with liquid complex fertilizer. Transfer to a greenhouse is possible in the first half of May. The wells are spilled with a hot solution of potassium permanganate, after planting, the plants are tied to a support. The bushes are not too tall, so stakes or metal rods can be used as props. Watering should not be too frequent (once every 6 days), but abundant enough. During the season, tomatoes are fed 3-4 times with liquid complex fertilizer.
Plants need to be formed into 1 or 2 stems, removing the lateral processes and lower leaves. Pinching the growth point is not required. Harvesting takes place throughout the season as the fruit ripens.
Diseases and pests
The variety is not too susceptible to disease. Thorough disinfection of the soil and periodic spraying of plants will help protect against verticillium and fusarium. It is recommended to use a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate or phytosporin. Spraying with medicinal preparations helps against mosaics and late blight. Affected leaves and other plant parts are immediately cut off and burned.
Mulching the soil with peat, humus or straw, as well as weekly destruction of weeds will protect against insect pests. A solution of warm water and laundry soap, which is used to wash the stems and leaves, is effectively combated with aphids.
Etoile deserves a place in the greenhouse. It is enough to plant a few bushes - beautiful and tasty tomatoes will surely interest the home and will decorate any festive table.
