Features of growing and care
Tomato "Yusupovskiy" is recommended for zoning in the southern and central regions of Russia. However, vegetable growers of the Urals, Siberia, Priamurye are very successful in growing their favorite variety.
Seedlings are sown 60-70 days before transferring to a permanent place. Seeds can be planted either in separate pots or in special mini-greenhouses. Stimulants can be used to enhance growth. Seedlings are planted in greenhouses in May-June. In open ground after the air temperature is at least + 7 ° С.
When planting in open ground, a shovel of manure, ash, a tablespoon of superphosphate is poured into each hole. The hole is poured abundantly with water. The plant is planted in liquid mud. Watering is not carried out for the next week.
Advice: Yusupov tomatoes prefer the well-lit, light, warm side of the plot or greenhouse.
All large-fruited tomatoes are planted according to the standard scheme 40 cm by 60 cm.
Agronomists advise leaving 2-3 central stems for the formation of a strong bush. Stepsons immediately after disembarking to a permanent place. The resulting stepchildren cut off the entire season, preventing them from growing over 5 cm.
In early August, pinch the top of the plant, leaving no more than three leaves above the last brush... This speeds up maturation.
They are tied to supports using a free loop or trellis support is organized. For this, wire bases with hanging ropes are pulled, around which the stems are wrapped. The brushes are tied separately.
The air temperature in the greenhouse should not exceed + 30 ° С. Humidity is kept at an average level. Mulching can be used to maintain the microclimate.
Advice: To obtain large fruits, remove the first inflorescence. Pinch the main shoot at the point of growth after laying the third inflorescence. Excessive ovaries are removed. No more than 6-8 flowering brushes are left on the stem.
With greenhouse maintenance, the application of nitrogen fertilizers is limited. With pale foliage, feed with a mullein solution: a liter per bucket of water. For faster and better formation of ovaries, the bush is sprayed with boric acid. During the period of fruit ripening, in order not to use chemical compounds, feeding is carried out with nettle extract.
Recipe: The crushed nettle green mass is placed in a barrel, preferably not metal, filled with water, the barrel is placed in the sun. The mass is brought to fermentation for 10-15 days, after which it is loosely closed with a lid. Stir daily.
For feeding, the extract is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10, ash is added. Tomatoes are fed at the root 2-3 times a week simultaneously with watering or during the rain. In dry times, feeding is not done, the soil becomes salinized and the root system does not absorb nutrients.
Diseases and pests
Late blight of tomatoes
Yusupov tomatoes are resistant to diseases most often found in greenhouses. They are not susceptible to cladosporium disease, but, like all greenhouse varieties, they can become infected with late blight, apical and gray rot, black leg, fusarium wilt of fruits.
- Phytophthora:
For prophylaxis, tomato seeds are soaked before sowing in a weak solution of potassium permanganate for 15-20 minutes, washed with running water. Seedlings are watered, previously aged for two days, with an ash solution (3 tablespoons per liter of water). At the first signs of the disease, the treatment of plants with a ready-made Bordeaux mixture helps.
- Fusarium:
Industrial chemicals (Previkur) or bio-based drugs (Trichodermin) are used.
- Top rot:
To prevent infection of tomatoes when planting, ash and a tablespoon of calcium nitrate are added under each root. Several times a season, tomatoes are sprayed with an ash solution: 2 tablespoons of ash per liter of water, leave for two days.
- Botrytis (gray rot), black leg:
Disinfect the soil. Observe the temperature and water conditions. Provide air access to the plant.
