Unlike a greenhouse, which is heated only by the sun, a polycarbonate greenhouse is equipped with an additional heat source (for example, a stove or a layer of overheating foliage).
The constant set temperature in the greenhouse provides plants with a favorable round-the-clock regime for the growth and ripening of fruits.
Description
Lightweight, durable, colorful
In order not to waste expensive energy on heating large rooms, greenhouses are made with a minimum internal volume. Their size is determined by the height of the plants, not by the height of the person.
The energy saving that is pleasing to the heart in such a design has its own disadvantage - you have to take care of the plants just outsideopening a section of a greenhouse.
The use of glass automatically sets the elements of the greenhouse structure to a rectangular shape. Bulky frames are usually made of wood.
The design of polycarbonate greenhouses is not limited by anything. Sheets of this material (from 3 to 12 meters in length) bend easily, without intermediate frames overlap arches and vertical side surfaces.
When destroyed, cellular polycarbonate does not form splinters, like fragile glass. The damaged sheet is repaired with a patch made of the same material (with glue), or easily replaced with a new one.
You can cut a sheet of polycarbonate with an ordinary knife, giving details any desired shape: from rounded to complex polygonal.
Important: Undeniable arguments in favor of cellular polycarbonate are its ease and strength... But the decisive advantage in choosing the material for equipping the greenhouse is high thermal insulation properties cellular polycarbonate.
Various color shades of polycarbonate make it possible to dream up and turn the greenhouse into an attractive accent of the garden landscape.
Frame quality
Frameworks of high-quality greenhouse models are constructed from welded galvanized profile pipe. We put an additional plus if the galvanization is painted.
Most durable protection metal is provided by applying a layer over the galvanized durable enameldried at high temperature.
Such frames are, no doubt, made in a factory, and not in a handicraft workshop.
Pay attention to pipe wall thickness... Thin-walled pipes - faithful cheap fake signas well as painting on "bare" metal.
Here are a few more signs of substandard fakes:
- frame arcs are not the same in bending radius and length
- frame elements are made of pipes of different cross-sections
- mounting holes are misaligned or missing
- lack of fasteners
- poorly machined welds
Equipment
One of the "secrets" of a low price - incomplete complete set... The missing jumpers, base base, fasteners and accessories, you will have to select and buy separately.
Attention: Each kit must be accompanied by documentation: technical data sheet, manufacturer's warranty, assembly instructions.
Variety of models
Among serial models, simplicity and low cost attracts mini-greenhouse "Petal" (1x2x0.8 m).
It consists of one solid sheet of 2 mm profile transparent polycarbonate. The sheet is bent in the form of a wide low arch with side walls. The wavy profile of the sheet gives it special rigidity. The frame is made of painted steel profile pipe 3x2 cm. The base is not offered.
The design is so simple that it is easy to reproduce it yourself.
Greenhouse "Early with polycarbonate" (1.05x2.0x0.8 m). Steel arched frame made of galvanized square shaped tube 20x20. Covering: 4 mm transparent cellular polycarbonate. The vertical tubes of the frame are equipped with pointed ends for anchoring in the ground. Access to the inside from both sides through the hinged elements of the body. It is possible to connect standard two-meter sections for increasing the length of the greenhouse.
The monotony of arched structures is disturbed only by the proposal of an even simpler form in the form of a hinged gable roof. But sometimes there are real designer finds. but complex frame and cutting polycarbonate sheets increase the cost such a greenhouse at times.
Something about polycarbonate
Cheap polycarbonate looks indistinguishable from what is more expensive. But the low price is most likely due to the fact that very thin layer of protective coating from solar ultraviolet radiation.
A thin protective layer is quickly washed off by rains, abraded by snow. The sheets begin to age before our eyes - they turn yellow and lose their transparency. So cheap polycarbonate and not long lasting.
The savings are guaranteed to result in new replacement costs.
Important: When installing polycarbonate, remember that the surface protected from the sun's ultraviolet rays must be facing outward.
Some manufacturers apply protective layer on both sides of the sheet... In this case, which side is on top does not matter.
When buying, by all means request a certificate, discuss with your sales consultant the properties of cellular polycarbonate from various manufacturers.
Delivery and assembly
Packaged greenhouse "constructors" can be taken out of the warehouse and assemble by yourself. Manufacturers provide all kits of prefabricated greenhouses with detailed step-by-step instructions for assembling the structure.
On the websites of reputable companies, video assembly guides are also offered.
If you wish, the selling companies will provide services for the delivery of the kit and the assembly of the greenhouse at your summer cottage.
From winter to winter
Greenhouses set on well lit places, orienting the ends from west to east.
In a soil protected from the external environment, they are grown, first of all, seedlings of heat-loving sweet peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants. After planting seedlings in the garden, its place is taken by radishes, spinach, dill, parsley, green onions. Throughout the season from February to December, something is constantly growing in the greenhouse.
Many summer residents have several greenhouses designed for growing various vegetables, aromatic herbs for spices, and seedlings of capricious flowers.
We go deeper, we warm ourselves
Almost all polycarbonate models are designed as ground structures, but they can be easily converted into tops of a solid buried greenhouse.
This is not difficult to do. By the size of the greenhouse, we dig a trench for three bayonets of a shovel (about 60 cm). Trench walls we strengthen with boards, on top we fasten a strapping from a bar to the boards.
We cover the trench by two-thirds with foliage, mowed weeds, manure, branches. Pour a layer of fertile soil on top. We level its surface one or two palms below ground level. We install the greenhouse structure on the wooden harness.
Mini version
If a large greenhouse does not fit into a garden-garden, or you do not need so many seedlings, you can limit yourself completely small building.
In mini-greenhouses, natural biofuels also give off heat. But the microstructure and installation work will require very little.
Biofuel, laid in a trench under the ground, warms up the soil and air in the greenhouse well during the season. In the fall, it should be replaced with a fresh portion.
Such greenhouses compact, save heat economically. They are mainly used for growing seedlings of early vegetables, and with the onset of stable warm weather, the grown seedlings have to be "relocated" to open beds. After all, mini-greenhouses are low, and there comes a time when the seedlings, stretching to growth, simply have nowhere to grow.
There is also such an agricultural technique - so as not to weaken the plants transplant, seeds land immediately on a permanent place, which is covered with a light greenhouse made of film. With the onset of stable heat, the greenhouse is removed.
A small polycarbonate greenhouse will cost, of course more expensivethan a frame with a stretched film. But he much stronger and more durable, much keeps warm better, and it looks quite dignified. At the same time, a polycarbonate greenhouse, like a film one, installed without much difficulty, it is easy to disassemble and move to another place.
You need some experience in observing the weather and knowledge of the growing season of certain plants that are planted in a mini-greenhouse.
The calculation here is this: if you plant the seeds too early, the seedlings will grow together until the last frost. A situation will arise when it is still dangerous to transplant plants into the ground, but it is already time to remove them from under the greenhouse, otherwise they will hopelessly deform under low cover.
New hobbies
A greenhouse in the country is a useful structure in all respects. In addition to early vegetables, he promises you new hobbies. Inevitably, you will have to build your own weather forecasts, keep an annual weather diary, study botany and agricultural technology, the properties of different varieties of vegetables, and competently approach the choice of seeds.
And also - the greenhouse will forever free the windowsills of your city apartment from hundreds of plastic cups with seedlings.
