Illuminated gardens: how to achieve them

The realization of illuminated gardens allows, if carried out in a workmanlike manner, to give life to particularly fascinating visual games. It should be stressed, in fact, that the purpose of creating a lighting system in a garden is not only to discourage ill-intentioned people and to allow people not to remain in the dark at night, but above all to enhance the green space in their complex: for this reason it is advisable to accurately select the lighting fixtures to be used, paying attention also to their position in the room and with respect to the home. Very important, in this sense, are the floor lamps, which are rather cheap and practical (since they can be moved with some ease). Wall lamps, on the other hand, as useful as they may be, can be chosen as an addition to the homologous ones on the ground, and should preferably be placed on the wall or on the outside of the house. Clearly, in the garden lighting it is not only necessary to evaluate the aesthetic aspect, but also the practical side must be taken into consideration.

The style of lighting systems and lamps

The style of the lamps and fixtures must of course respect that of the garden in which they are located: modern, classic or rustic, the important thing is that they fit in a balanced and harmonious manner in the overall interior and exterior furnishings. There is also the possibility of creating particular plays of light, aimed at bringing out a portion of the garden or a specific plant, giving life to an intriguing and fascinating atmosphere. Often, in fact, an adequately lit garden can become an evocative place able to suggest emotions and provide suggestions. The most classic choice is represented by the street lamps, external poles that require limited maintenance and allow illuminating the area as a whole: this is a solution especially indicated for larger spaces. Who, on the other hand, wishes to recreate a confidential and collected climate can think of small-sized poles: with the light source closer to the ground, the visual effect will surely be different, and even the shadows will become more defined and clearer .

How to recreate plays of light: recessed lamps

In short, i illuminated gardens offer the opportunity to create games of chiaroscuro and different atmospheres, romantic or cold, depending on the needs. To be evaluated is also the option represented by recessed floor lamps, which are used to project the light rays in a vertical direction, upwards. In this way, the trees will be mostly illuminated. From a practical point of view, you should not be afraid of ruining or damaging this type of lamps, which are designed and manufactured in such a way that they can be trampled without risk (just as they are not damaged by the weather). Having said that the lighting of the garden can also be obtained with simple candles, expertly positioned in the right places (paying attention, however, that the hot wax does not damage the lawn or the plants), a last solution particularly pleasant from the point of view aesthetic consists of the lamps set in other structures, such as vases, statues or other furnishing accessories.
What is certain is that light can be considered an engine of emotions and sensations: for this reason, before purchasing a lamp, it is advisable to ideally plan the lighting effect that you intend to create. The care of the lighting must not be organized after setting up the garden, but it must be designed in parallel: both to obtain a harmonious environment and to take into account practical aspects (for example the laying of electrical sockets, the excavations necessary to pass the wires) which, if sent back at a later time, could favor an increase in costs. Light can also be volume: it is the case of English lawns, where the walkways and perimeter paths are lit up with a built-in effect. Through specific projectors, on the other hand, a homogeneous veil can be created on the vegetable surface, or, because no, realize recognizable forms.

Differentiate light sources

Depending on the object, the plant and the material to be lit, it is preferable to select different sources: for example, cold lights should be preferred for colored surfaces, while warm tones will be required for stone and cement. A very large suggestive power can also be obtained with luminous spheres, which hide the light source in the ground, and propagate the light through the diffuser, which can also be covered with flowers or climbing plants. In practice, by day you will simply have a vegetable sphere, while at night you can count on a light source with an artistic form.

Illuminated gardens: Calculate the costs in advance

It is therefore clear that for any illuminated garden the light cannot be considered solely as a technical element, but as a means to produce particular suggestions, atmospheres, emotions. It is advisable, of course, to carry out a preventive calculation of the expenses, entrusting it to the company (in the case in which the works will be the work of an outsider) or making it independently. In short, we take into account the costs that will have to be incurred depending on the budget available, to avoid leaving half the work started and which cannot be completed due to lack of funds.
