Floral decorations for the table: how to create them
The floral decorations on the tables allow you to revive and color the surrounding environment, without giving up a touch of personal and elegant class. In short, it is not difficult to create a centerpiece with flowers, fresh or dried. Such as? It is sufficient to use a rectangular or rounded bowl, placing a sponge for flowers inside (easily available in any garden center or even in the supermarkets), not before having wet it and squeezed it, so as to make it stay moist. The choice of flower species, on the other hand, depends on the atmosphere that you intend to recreate: for example, for a refined, sober and elegant style you can refer to calla lilies, bulbous plants with bright and delicate petals; vice versa, for more welcoming and warm tones, you can focus on buttercups and roses, so as to mix yellow, orange and red. The flowers must be inserted into the sponge from the lowest to the highest, once the stem is cut, which must not be longer than ten centimeters. Around the stems, it will be good to place some fern so that, once the composition is finished, do not see the sponge; any gaps can be filled with the gypsophila. The composition can be further decorated with satin or organza bows, not too big: a simple trick that will amaze the diners. It is clear, in any case, that the development of a floral centerpiece is the starting point for decorating the kitchen or dining room, but also for a different gift than usual: in fact, a gift made by hand by those who make it it is particularly appreciated by the recipient, if only for the effort and effort that its composition has brought about.
What do we need
So let's see what it takes to create floral decorations for tables. It is necessary to have a large and clean work surface, so as to have all the instruments within easy reach: if we operate on a kitchen table, it is advisable to cover it with an old tablecloth to avoid getting it dirty. In addition to the sponge, we will need scissors, a metal net, satin ribbon, shears, trimmings and a gun that delivers liquid glue. The container to be used may vary according to tastes and needs: it could be a wicker basket, a ceramic tray, a decorated plate, a terracotta bowl, a narrow and tall vase, a tray. Regardless of the object, however, it must be washed carefully, and dried before using it. Then, using a small knife we cut the sponge so that its perimeter corresponds to the dimensions of the container. With the shears, instead, we cut the wire mesh, which will then go to wrap the sponge. It is advisable to avoid the latter having smudges or fraying with respect to the container: therefore, once inserted and positioned, we will finish it with the small knife.
Fresh or dried flowers
As for the flowers, they can be dry, fresh or artificial according to tastes and needs. Before inserting them in the sponge, they must be divided on the basis of the length of the stem, or by color: it depends on the style we want to adopt for the decorations. Regardless of the type of choice, obviously personal, the important thing is to have in mind the ideas we want to apply before proceeding, to avoid confusion or changes in the last moment. The flowers must be inserted in the sponge according to a precise criterion, trying to achieve a visual harmony and an important aesthetic balance; the twigs and parts of the shrub, on the other hand, must be put aside, since they will be used as a final decoration. Once the flowers have been placed, they should be sprayed with glossy varnish, which, beyond the aesthetic effect, also serves to protect them and repair them from insects and parasites (in the case of fresh flowers). The insertion procedure must start from the longest flowers, which will be placed in the center, avoiding leaving empty spaces. When the center is full and finished, you can move to the sides, gradually turning the vase (or tray) to create a precise symmetry.
As you can see, the creation of floral decorations for tables does not require special rules and specific knowledge: the important thing is to let creativity take over, having care however to mix the styles proportionately. It is clear, in fact, that the appearance of a centerpiece cannot be simply pleasing from an aesthetic point of view, but must also adapt to the context in which it is placed, fit harmoniously into the environment and into the room where the flowers are located. : in other words, finding an exotic-looking centerpiece in a rustic house would sound a bit off-key.
Floral table arrangements: maintenance
It is worth noting that the centerpiece, if made with fresh flowers, lasts a few days, especially if the flowers are not in season. In the case in which dry or artificial flowers are used, instead, its duration will be prolonged over time, also because the composition will require less maintenance; however, it will be good to remove the dust from time to time, possibly using the cold air from a hair dryer.
