Building crepe paper flowers
All the flowers have the ability to transform the look of the environment in which they are placed, the crepe paper flowers are no exception, indeed they manage with their bright and strong colors to give a definite touch of color and liveliness to the rooms of the home furnishing indistinctly entrance, living room, living room, kitchen, bathroom and so on ...
Crepe paper flowers last over time and do not require special care, they are very delicate and simple creations to be made with just a little manual work and lots of imagination and the use of a few cheap materials.
Once you have learned some simple basic techniques and use the various folding techniques depending on the flower you intend to build, you can prepare splendid bouquets with which to decorate your home.
The types of crepe paper
The raw material for making flowers is crepe paper, it is among the most used papers to make flowers because being elastic and resistant it is easy to model, on the market there are so many colors and shades, of the three types on the market each for its characteristics lends itself to different uses.
The common type of crepe paper has an average thickness especially suitable for creating small or larger models, then there is the light crepe paper which has a finer grain and is particularly suitable for shaping flowers with thin petals such as magnolia or buttercups.
The third type of crepe paper is thicker and is generally used by florists to make plant pots, this type is considered to be suitable for making flower models with large petals such as iris and lilium.
The colors of crepe paper are usually very heavy and compact, but there are tricks to obtain a natural effect by changing the chromatic base, for example, to obtain slight tone-on-tone degradations it is useful, in this regard, to immerse the sheet in a basin fill it with water for a few minutes and then place it in the sun to dry horizontally.
If instead you want to get a sheet with different shades of color, you must overlap and roll up strips of different colors, immerse them in water for two or three minutes and extract them, then crush the roll with your hands to make the colors mix together and finally lay the paper in the sun horizontally separating the sheets only when they are completely dry.
Materials and tools
Before starting work, it is a good idea to equip yourself with all the tools and materials necessary to avoid unpleasant interruptions.
They are made up of a few simple elements that can be easily found and are
crepe paper of various colors
scissors with serrated blade
thin iron wire
thick iron wire
thin iron wire
wire cutter (to cut the wire)
nylon thread green adhesive tape for florists (tape or stemptex)
paper adhesive tape
quick setting glue
stapler with staples
glue stick or hot glue
This is the basic material but, of course, depending on the flower you want to create and the method you prefer to follow, the list may vary.
There are few basic rules that apply to all the models to be taken into account before indulging in the creation of any type of flower, giving vent to their creativity.
The crepe paper is in non-sheeted rolls. To arrange the crepe paper strips, the vertical sections must be cut from the roll with different lengths. To make a single petal, the paper is unrolled and after having spread the top flaps, proceed when cut in the shape you want, when instead you want to create a series of identical petals in shape and size, you have to fold the paper like an accordion and cut it into the desired shape, the same procedure is used to make double petals.
The tip of a petal should be curved using a wooden stick on which the end of the paper is rolled, while to give a concave shape to the petal, press the central part with the fingers while pulling outwards.
When the flower is finished, it must be completed by covering the base of the petals with a green ribbon and modeling it with your hands.
The leaves are made by drawing the shape on a sheet of heavy crepe paper, they are cut with scissors and joined to the stem with a nylon thread or glue or adhesive tape, to complete the leaf the ribs are drawn with a brush and the colors are watercolor.
Once you have found everything you need you can proceed to the realization of the flowers that we like best, the flower to be made must as much as possible have all the characteristics of the real one if you want to get a beautiful flower in the end so it is important to reproduce with care stem , pistil, corolla, sepals, petals, stamens and leaves.
To start one of the simplest flowers to make is the rose, even if there are different ways for each flower to make it from the easiest to the most complex, it all depends on the skill and experience gained.
Build crepe paper flowers: rosebud
Material: a red strip 7.5 cm high to make the outer petals, a red strip 5 cm high for the inner ones, a small green stripe shaped for sepals, paper tape, green adhesive tape for the stem, wire , wooden stick, nylon thread, glue.
We begin to build a rose bud, first fold the lower strip of red paper and cut out the shape of the small petals, pull and spread each petal to make it concave, join three or four small petals and form the part central corolla.
At this point the wire is inserted into the base to form the stem of the flower, firmly tie the base of the bud so as to block the petals to the stem.
We move on to the formation of large petals we take the red top strip bends and widens it divides into many petals, in each one we draw the edges of the upper margins with the help of a stick, we curl the tips of the petals to give a more natural touch to the flower.
Once the large petals have been created, they are joined one by one to the central base, securing them with a nylon thread, at the end the ligation is covered with the paper tape up to the middle of the stem. Once the bud is formed, all that remains is to add the sepals to the base of the rosebud, finally fix all the elements with green adhesive tape to cover the entire stem, the rose bud is made.
