In fact, creating flower arrangements is very simple, just follow a few steps; there is no need to be born with the green thumb and above all it is not necessary to do boring practice! If your very first compositions are to leave you unsatisfied, you can always undo them and start over. Through this fun activity you could discover your most hidden creative side!

EVERY OCCASION HAS ITS COMPOSITION

There are numerous types of floral compositions from which to draw inspiration; they differ in shape, size, color and seasonality. Your flower arrangement could be a simple vase to light up your room, a centerpiece for guests, or why not? A bouquet for your wedding or that of a friend! Every occasion will give you the right inspiration, from the change of season, to the festivities such as Christmas and Easter, or even more: birthdays, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and whoever has the most?
When you have clearly outlined the image of the composition you would like to make, you can finally look for flowers. Going to your florist's is an idea, the quality will be fantastic, but the cost could be slightly higher. However, to start with, it could be the best choice. Also, if you have a garden, you may find beautiful fillers for your composition.
Every flower in nature is so beautiful that it knows how to lend itself to any type of composition; the range of flowers available is vast, so choose varieties that have contrasting shapes and colors, so as to offer greater diversity. Furthermore, the foliage is an excellent alternative to fill in the empty spaces, just as the fruits or berries will give charm. The foliage and branches are not just fillers, they also know how to add thickness and balance. Think of ferns, tree branches and ornamental grasses, they will be excellent companions for your little flowers.

DIY floral arrangements: A PINK OF FANTASY AND SOME ADVICE FOR A SPLENDID CREATION

Depending on your choice, whether they are real flowers or fake flowers, the creation of a do-it-yourself flower arrangement will be more or less demanding, but still elementary.
In fact, there are few devices to keep in mind for the composition of fake flowers, they will only need an occasional sprinkle and eventual annual washing.
First of all, you will need shears or, if you feel more secure, a flower knife: remember that the shears, if they are tightened too much, will risk crushing the stem, but just apply a light pressure and you won't have to worry about ruining anything!
In case you haven't already chosen the container for your composition, it's the right time to do it. Be imaginative, even an old tin watering can, an ancient teapot or bottles of wine will be fine; indeed, they will make your creation even more original.
And now here are some simple tips and steps for beginners to follow!
1. After choosing your flowers, cut the stems at an angle of 45 ° and dip them in warm water: if freshly cut and crosswise, the water will be absorbed more easily. Furthermore, the warm water will help the most compact stems to open up and therefore to absorb it better. Leave them in water for a day or two before creating your composition.
2. Use the hydrophilic flower sponge: it not only keeps the stems hydrated, but prevents it from rotting. Dip the sponge in the water for 15 minutes before cutting it and remember to water it every two days. To keep the flowers firmly in place, an alternative to the hydrophilic sponge is to create a grid on the opening of the container with waterproof adhesive tape.
3. The objective is to cut and arrange the flowers at about the height of the container: therefore start by removing all the leaves that would be submerged by the water, then position the softest and most voluminous flowers first, so as to leave the opening quite airy. Then add the flowers with the stiffer stems, which should be slightly higher than those you have just placed, thus allowing them to be supported by the soft nest below. Only then can you add green to fill in the empty spaces and hide the stems.
4. Once satisfied, put your hands in a fan shape in the composition and raise the flowers a little, so you will make it less rigid.
5. Keep the flowers away from the sun and from warm drafts, but above all water them often. Only in this way will they live longer.
Done! And remember, if you still have any doubts about your abilities, don't worry, you might be surprised by how easy and enjoyable it is in this field. Are you ready? Give vent to your imagination!
