Spring flowers
Spring flowers are used not only to create original and fragrant compositions but also to decorate cakes and pies and to dress certain types of salads. The latter can be adapted for food purposes only if we are sure that they have not been treated with pesticides harmful to health. Among the species of edible flowers, we find orange flowers, elder flowers, gladioli, passion flowers, chrysanthemums, mint flowers, marigold, primrose, violet, chamomile flowers and many others. This type of flowers can be used as we have mentioned, even for decorating cakes or ice cream, but we must never overdo it with doses because even if put in abundance, flowers can cause damage to the organism, in fact, they contain a high amount of essential oils and proteins. It is also advisable to never use the flowers of a florist for food use because they have certainly been treated with pesticides that are not suited to the environment.
To see the spring flowers blossom, we must begin to sow towards the end of January but not directly in the garden or in the vases of our balcony. The temperature is too cold and the shoots would run the risk of freezing in the bud. We must therefore plant them in a seedbed. First you need to go to a store that specializes in flowers and seeds and even a nursery is fine. Then you need to make sure that the seeds from which spring flowers are born are the same color. If, for example, we want to grow flowers in a flower bed all celestial, we must plant seeds of a certain type of flower and not mixed with other colors although of the same species. If the merchant is serious and scrupulous, he will guarantee the appearance of future plans. As anticipated, the flowers should not be planted directly in flower beds or pots but in a seedbed. This element could also be a simple container of soft plastic eggs. The important thing is that there is another container that will act as a saucer where to place water so that the soil absorbs the liquid that should not be placed directly on the seed. It is also good practice to use the excellent soil mixed with peat for sowing. In it we will plant our seeds. We will have to take the utmost care for the seedbed that will never have to stay in an environment with a temperature below 14 degrees. We will therefore take care to keep it warm at least at night when the temperatures drop. While we wait for the seeds to germinate, we can begin to prepare the soil where we will plant the shoots. With a rake, we move the garden soil and with a small hoe we raise the plates mixing them with spheres of expanded clay and excellent humus. In this way, we will prepare the ground to receive the plants that will be born because this will become soft. If, on the other hand, we have to plant the plants in the balcony or terrace pots, we empty the pots where we intend to transfer the sprouts and put in them new earth mixed in the same way as indicated above. Towards the beginning of April, when the temperatures on the will have stabilized, we can begin to transfer the plants that in the meantime will have germinated. However, we must not immediately transfer the plants to the ground but before doing so, we must put them in individual jars to which we will give a good watering and a good dose of fertilizer. Only after a couple of weeks, we can transplant the plants to the destinations we want. How to treat spring flowers
Spring is the exact season to fertilize all plants. Spring flowers are those that express their need to be fertilized with a particular language. When, despite exposure to the sun and a suitable environment, we see that the plants barely bloom, then the exact time has come to feed the plants with a fertilizer. Therefore, at the beginning of April we will begin to fertilize both potted flowering plants and flower beds and continue throughout the summer season. Usually in large supermarkets, there are those fertilizer bottles called "universal". It is very cheap but usually, not from the results hoped for. This happens because you do not go to the source of the problem but you bring to the earth, a vast series of substances, many times not requested by the plant. It is therefore appropriate to ask a specialized shop where the employee will give us precise indications on what to use specifically. We will also be informed about what type of fertilizer to use, whether in granules or liquid. The granules must be buried and then watered to allow them to melt and adequately nourish the soil. The liquids on the other hand, should be sprayed on the leaves directly or diluted in water and then joined to the soil. If we observe these very precise rules, we will surely obtain plants of lush and colorful spring flowers with which we will be able to embellish balconies, terraces and gardens with a minimum effort and a lot of patience.
