Works of the month garden november
During these weeks the garden must be prepared to overcome the coldest months of the year. Most of the plants are ending the summer blooms, the deciduous trees have taken on the fiery colors, typical of autumn, and many leaves are already falling. We can intervene with pruning on trees and shrubs that tolerate the cold well; we shorten the branches of the fruit plants that they have already fructified (let's not prune the medlars: the Japanese ones are in bloom, while the European ones now have the fruits); some flowering shrubs, such as chimonanthus and camellias, already have the buds of spring flowers, it is good to leave them undisturbed, remembering fertilization; most other flowering shrubs can be pruned; in particular the shrubs that tend to grow much in height, losing to the vegetation in the lower part, such as buddleie and caryopteris, should be shortened to about a third of their height, this will favor the development of a denser and more compact shrub. If the weather permits, we can practice the last mowing of the turf and the last pruning to contain the hedges to give them an elegant and tidy shape.
These weeks are still useful for burying spring-flowering bulbous plants, such as tulips, daffodils, crocuses, especially in the central southern regions. Let us remember that bulbous plants must be at home before night frosts, so that the soil protects them from the cold. For bulbous plants, we mean all those varieties of plants that produce flowers through the bulbs. In turn, the bulbs are vegetative propagation organs that appear as spring onions and once planted, bloom in beautiful flowers.Sowing and transplantation

If you wish, you can sow turnip greens, onions, broad beans, peas and more, carrots and chicory (but it is necessary to sow the various species and crops in sheltered places).
